1.. LEGAL PRACTITIONERS QUALIFYING EXAMINATION COURSE
The Legal Practitioners Qualifying Examination Course is a one year programme. Students who successfully complete this course of study are recommended for admission to the Zambian Bar.
Entry Requirements
Persons wishing to be enrolled on the Legal Practitioners Qualifying Course should possess the following minimum academic qualifications:
- At least five(5) O’ Level credits or equivalent; and,
Degree in Law (LLB or equivalent) from a public or private university established or registered under the Higher Education Act or a degree in law obtained from a university outside Zambia in a country operating the common law system approved by the Council of the Zambia Institute of Advanced Legal Education and whose degree in law is recognized by a university accredited under the Zambia Institute of Advanced Legal Education Act as academically equivalent to a degree of that accredited university.
2. POST-GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN LEGISLATIVE DRAFTING
This programme is intended to equip lawyers with practical skills and knowledge required in the drafting of legislation. The programme runs for a period of five months.
Entry Requirements
To qualify for admission, one must meet the following entry requirements:
- Be a holder of a Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB)
- Be admitted to practice as an Advocate
3. ADVANCED PROSECUTORS’ COURSE
The aim of this course is to impart to participants in-depth knowledge and practical skills in criminal prosecution. It is a short course and runs for a period of two weeks.
Entry Requirements
Anyone in Prosecutions or interested in Prosecutions can apply for this course. However, they should be holders of at least a Grade 12 certificate.
4. HUMAN RIGHTS LAW
The main aims and objectives of this course are:
- To develop an understanding of:
- the concepts, sources and vocabulary of human rights;
- the history, development and operation of international human rights standards, institutions and mechanisms;
- the history, development and operation of the regional human rights arrangements (with special emphasis/focus on the African Human Rights System);
- the history, development and operation of the national legal and institutional framework for the promotion and protection of human rights;
- To selectively explore some contemporary/topical human rights issues such as (list not exhaustive):
- women’s rights
- children’s rights
- rights of persons with disabilities
- gender-based violence
- human rights and the environment
- law enforcement and human rights
- access to justice
- rights of detained persons/prisoners
- human rights and business
- transitional justice
- To study recent developments and case law relevant to the advancement of international and national human rights standards.
The course is intended to equip participants to confidently and competently raise human rights awareness in their community, or to approach community or Government advocacy, work or decision-making on a rights-conscious basis.

In order to get admission into this course, one must be a holder of a degree, diploma or certificate in any field of study.
5. COMPUTER FORENSIC AND CYBER INVESTIGATIONS
This course teaches participants how to obtain, preserve and document evidence from digital electronic devices. The course equips participants with knowledge and skills on how to identify methods used and system vulnerabilities which can be secured to prevent loss or damage. It provides the relevant skill set needed to carry out high level investigative operations in an event of a breach. The duration of the course is two weeks.
